Today Cory and I went to Bigtim's house so we could meet a fill-in bassist for the summer. I showed him our songs on
my acoustic and then we jammed a bit. When we were done being even remotely productive and it was getting to be about time
for Tim to head out for his physical therapy Cory proposed that he and I go get something to eat. I had already had a bite
for lunch but I felt like joining him for a snack so we went up to Willington Pizza.
The place was virtually empty, there was like one guy sitting at a table near the entrance and a couple sitting outside
and that was it. There was only one waitress working, but she was of course one of the beautiful waitresses that makes Willington
Pizza so great. We sat down in a booth and the gorgeous young waitress got us something to drink. The thought crossed my mind
that I might see Alex, but that didnt seem likely at all since it was such a slow time of day. Our waitress found it odd that
I wanted ice cream when Cory was ordering lunch. But hey, whatever.
Something about the look she gave me when I ordered a hot fudge sundae reminded me of something. I dont think I thought
of this consciously, but somewhere in the very back of my mind something felt familiar. I could see the couple sitting outside
from our booth, and whenever the waitress went outside to wait on them I could check out her ass without anyone but Cory noticing.
I kept thinking about how particularly hot this waitress was. Since I really couldnt remember vividly what Alex
looked like, I thought it possible that this was her. All I remembered was that she was really hot. I asked Cory
if he thought it might be her, but he just shrugged. It occured to me to glance at her hands to see if I could catch a glimpse
of a ring. I did. On the ring finger of her left hand.
"...is an engagement ring supposed to go on the right hand or the left? I dont really know the custom..." I pondered
aloud to Cory.
"Left," Cory said.
"Holy shit man, she has a ring on... I seriously think it might be her. How cool would that be?" We joked about what
I could say to her while we sat. When we got the receipt, I looked for her name, and found it next to the word "server."
Cory and I figured out the tip and how we were going to pay while I thought of what I might say to her. We went up to
pay and she gave us our change. Right as she did, I said,
"So, are you still engaged, or did you end up getting married?"
She took a step back, let a huge grin spread across her face, and she exclaimed,
"I KNEW you looked familiar!!!" She sped off, and I thought maybe she would actually come around the counter to talk
to me, but I was left just standing there. We had a good laugh. "I guess thats all I get" I said. I didn end up catching a
glimpse from her about a room's length or two away, and she was still smiling, so I waved. It seemed odd, I was getting a
positive as well as a creeped out reaction at the same time. Like "Hey, its you, whats up, Im running away from you."
It was really cool to see Alex again. Im pretty sure I saw the guy she'd been flirting with that time briefly, perhaps
she told him she saw me again and he's going to punch me in the face next time I go there. That won't stop me though, the
guys and I are definitely eating at Willington Pizza whenever we're in the area. Seriously, everybody, this place is great,
the food is great and the service is to die for.
